Project 3 was the project I’ve enjoyed the most so far this semester. After I settled with my idea to make my video about riding a bike, I was lucky to be able to meet up with Vachel to get my videos. Before shooting the videos for this project, I actually hadn’t ridden a bike in several years, which is why in some parts I may seem shaky and off-balance.
In terms of the animation, the biking loop took the most amount of time. I tried my best to make the movement realistic and fluid, as well as having it be a perfect loop so there was no disparity. But once that was established, I worked on the backgrounds for the project. Despite how simple they look; I spent a considerable amount of time on the backdrops, and I am very happy with how they turned out. My personal favorite is the forest background. I wanted to make the backgrounds colorful and interesting to look at. The forest pans across the screen while the biking animation stays in place, adding movement. I particularly like this portion of the animation; it might actually be my favorite part of the animation.
Admittedly, it was hard to come up with enough interesting ideas for my animation. I definitely could have been more creative and more expressive with it, but considering the short time frame that I had to create the project I think I did a good job.
It was fun searching for sounds to use in my project. I definitely agree with some of the criticisms I received during class about the lack of sounds in some portions of the video. The transitions were fun to implement too, and I honestly feel like I could have used more. Overall, I am very happy with how my project ended up. I put a lot of time and effort into it, and while I don’t think it all shows with the final product, I think it still looks pretty good.
